Acrylick x DJ Shadow
We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with world renowned DJ/producer/digger, DJ SHADOW. Being avid listeners and fans ourselves; this collaboration was somewhat inevitable. To the few out there that neverheard of Dj Shadow or his music, we present to you this excerpt from the documentary “Scratch” that came out in 2002. This interview briefly, but successfully explains the artist himself, and displays the passion that partially defines the music he creates. Shadow takes the art of digging and sampling to the next level, making it an art form, taking what has been forgotten and giving it a new life while respecting everything behind it.
When we were approached to design a series of shirts for Shadow, we used the impressions we had from being a listener. Our main goal was to translate the passion felt in the music, to a design on a t-shirt. This is seen most in our “Invisible DJ design.” Rather than to be recognized, the invisible DJ would rather be heard, leading to music that’s created for all the right reasons. This puts the overall art form in the forefront, rather than any gimmick.
