The Los Angeles mentality is one that is solid. Even though the city is often known for its glitz and glamour. Individuals that reside here are not easily fazed by these surroundings. Instead we focus on things that we love, for the sole fact that they make us smile. This is what we like to call the underground mentality. Not being affected by the gimmicks forced upon us, but rather focusing on the rarity and originality of things that we respect personally.

With all the equipment involved in being a DJ, one part never gets attention. There are many designs with the obvious such as turntables, records, mixers, headphones, and speakers. Those who just don’t know the important role it plays, however often overlook the headshell and cartridge. Without a cartridge mounted on a headshell, the music is never heard. We made it a goal to create a shirt for this overlooked part, and came up with what you see before you, with emphasis on the headshell and cartridge, putting it in the spotlight that it never receives.

Life is made up of many different parts. Our experiences or highlights from birth to death, should be held in high regard. These are the important parts that make up our lives. Each piece is important and plays a part in us obtaining the next piece. The way to obtain all the pieces to complete our life puzzles is to just live life. We emphasized this idea in our design.

When faced with opposition, one should take a passive attitude toward it, or even block it out completely. We must learn to go forward with our goals regardless obstacles. This design is our way of showing this. There is clearly evidence of opposition in the form of damage toward the kick drum. Regardless of opposition, the music will still continue even though someone is clearly not pleased by it.  We will continue to bring the noise, and ask you all to do the same.

We took a well-known phrase with no definitive definition, and created this design around it. The phrase “champion sound” is used quite often in various music genres. We simplified it and gave it a basic meaning.  We defined it as the music in which an individual prefers and loves.  The individual wearing the shirt is the champion. The music, in which the person prefers to listen to, in turn is the sound of a champion.

We put focus on three very beautiful pieces of equipment in this design. Get your mind out of the gutter! The average person may first believe that the emphasis is clearly on the beautiful woman. Though that may seem like what we are speaking about, it is not. We are talking about the headphones, decks, and mixer. These items to us are equally beautiful as the female in the design.

We disclose what we think is the key to longevity, which is simply to keep things moving. Many examples can be related to this explanation. A river for example if not constantly in motion, the water becomes stagnant. This stagnant water is not healthy to drink and becomes useless to its surroundings. As time progresses the river is not the same, and serves no purpose and is known as dead. In order to keep things fresh the stream must keep moving. This concept is exactly the same with a human body. Without movement and activity, physically and mentally, our bodies will die quicker. However, constant stimulation and continuing to move along will ensure a long life.

There are many directions we can take in our lives. Similar to a maze, there are barriers that we need to overcome in order to arrive to our destination. One wrong turn can lead to delays in our destination. A person can get lost easily, but in order to complete the journey, a person needs to be persistence and learn from mistakes, while not taking the same wrong steps twice. In life there is always a way for us, we just need to find the directions.

Perseverance is a crucial key in survival. Life throws at us many obstacles that may seem hopeless in overcoming. We need to take the negatives we are dealt and overcome them with positive actions. No matter what, failure is not an option. We are capable of surviving by just holding on to the mindset of “Never Say Die”. The battle may be rough, but the consequences of not overcoming, is far more a worse fate.
