This is the revamped version of a classic Acrylick shirt. The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, and lasting is important. When we have this ability, we are considered to be wise. Being wise is a trait one gains from living and experiencing the trials and tribulations of life. Some achieve this trait sooner then others but we will eventually get to a point were we can take the knowledge we have gained through experience and teach others what we have learned. This pattern of learning from oneself and passing on positive knowledge is vital to the world. When we do this, we are insuring that future generations will not make the same mistakes we have in the past. Hopefully this will make the world we live in a better place for our children, grandchildren, and so on. This will help eliminate the negativity in the world hopefully only leaving the positive. We should take what life gives us as training for one day becoming a better person. Till that point, this shirt will offer some inspiration during the journey.

Who gives titles to people? How does someone become known as the Godfather of Soul? Do people apply for the position? Is their a certain qualification in being given this prestigious title? Well we don’t know either. What we do know is that James Brown earned his title. The work that he has done throughout his life inspires and will continue to inspire the future. Who knew that the Godfather of Soul will now always be related to processed hair and sex inspired dance moves. That’s why we should not judge, for who knows.

You may be asking, what does the design of this piece signify? Are number of heads on the shirt supposed to stand for each one ODB’s children? Are the heads supposed to stand for each time he was in jail? Or are the heads meant to signify each one of his name changes? Well, they are none of those. The design’s main purpose is to show that ODB, no matter what he did while he was alive, had a great influence on others. He was larger then life and he lived life to the fullest, maybe a little too much but he clearly has the influence of an army. His ability to influence is what we admire most about him, may the man with many names rest in peace.

Temples presently are seen as primarily being places of prayer or worship, but it was more then that in the past. When the first temple originated from being a gift from a farmer to a monk it was seen as a place where ideas and concepts could be exchanged. The first temple was a barn given to monks as a place to stay and escape from the winter cold. Monks then accumulated and turned the ordinary barn into a place where teachings can be passed and skills could be built upon. The subjects being taught were advanced for the time. Philosophy, art, music, math astronomy and so on were all being studied. These served as the foundation of future positive advancements. Now presently today there are hundred of temples doing the same thing, maybe not as extreme as the past but ideas are still being shared and passed on. We at Acrylick also want our philosophies and ideas to be shared to the masses in the same way the early temples did. This shirt is our homage to the early temples.

There are numerous ways we can define this shirt, but really its self explanatory. The title of the shirt describes the message better then any paragraph written about it. A person should not be defined by anyone else besides themselves. We are who we are and we should love ourselves for it. From the time we are born we are judged, and that is unfair. We encourage you all to live life till death by being what you are…fresh.

People should realize that being true to oneself is most important in living a purposeful life. Emulation is just a waste energy. With that known, who said it was cool to wear a bandanna around your mouth as fashion? Bandannas throughout history served a purpose. Cowboys used them to keep dust out of their mouths, rebels in third world countries wore them to hide their identities from fear of execution, bank robbers wear them for the same purpose in fear of getting incarcerated. People even wear them in the snow to avoid catching ammonia. Those are legitimate reasons to wear bandannas. We respect the attempt to express who you are, but how can others see your true self when 50 other people in the room have on a bandanna in the same way.

Drugs, Sex, and Rock and Roll is great for some people, but for others it’s a bad combination to follow. Some that follow this combination will have heavy consequences. So why not follow the combination we offer. Love, peace, and Hip Hop won’t cause you to end up in rehab or jail, at least we don’t think so.

The cliché connotation that comes with Los Angeles is sunshine, palm trees, and Hollywood. When we think of LA, I think of excess, but not taking a side of good or bad. What better example of excess then what you see on this shirt. This has to be one of our less serious shirts, but that doesn’t imply that it’s meaningless. We are not saying everyone in LA is the same, but people know LA by what they assume, whether we like it or not, so might as well be proud in some way.

This shirt features images of two ghetto blasters. They can be symbolic to war and the two sides involved. Humanity must learn to stop the mentality of an eye for an eye. Innocent people are hurt by war. Why should they be hurt when they don’t choose to be involved? If we continue with this mentality of and eye for an eye, eventually nothing would be left. Music is universal. In a better world we could use music to unite us rather then bombs to destroy.
