Trek Life will be rocking the Dues Paid stage at the seventh annual Paid Dues festival! A mainstay of the LA Hip-Hop scene, Trek makes music with many talented names: Babu, Evidence, Oddisee, Kev Brown, Bishop Lamont, Khalil & J Bizness to cite a few. The road to Paid Dues for the West Covina, CA native began with high school freestyle battles in Shadow Oak Park, stints with several group acts and a healthy accumulation of personal hours spent on stage and in the studio. From challenging Myka-9 as a teenager to a battle at Project Blowed, coming of age rocking the local circuit and as an ambassador of the West Coast sound from Hawaii to Heidelberg, Trek is an energetic tour de force every time he touches a mic.

2010′s Everything Changed Nothing paired Trek‘s engaging delivery and thought-provoking lyrics with a heavy-hitting sonic landscape created by DC native Oddisee. A notable placement on ESPN for his single So Supreme, along with accolades in the LA Times and other media outlets pushed his career in a positive direction, setting the stage for the successful remix project Wouldn’t Change Nothing and 2012′s highly anticipated Hometown Foreigner project with Duke Westlake. His upcoming performance at Paid Dues acknowleges the effort that he has put into every rhyme and every show.

We were fortunate to have 2011 DMC World Champion DJ Vajra bless the tables at our store last month for our Spring Scratch Session. Sponsored by Novation music and Odyssey Gear, we had dicers setup on all the stations as well as the Odyssey Flight FX cases stocked up. Drinks and Red Bull we’re also flowing. Also congratulations to the finalists of the scratch battle DJ Rayted-R and DJ Prolifix judged by Vajra, Spryte and P-Trix. Shoutouts to Power 106, Trek-Life and DJ Buddy TV. Acrylick was created for the people, and is here to spread positive messages through outlets we believe in, which include art, music, philosophy, and soul. One subject of inspiration known from our brand is music. Music is universal and has the capability to reach people in ways most things cannot. It is a very powerful force that many take for granted. Our collaboration with Beatport embodies this same ideology, and the goal from this is to reach out to the music community and spread the positivity that Acrylick is known for.

Beatport was launched in 2004 and since then, it has grown to be one of biggest online music store and community on the web. Its catalogue of music is giant, as well as its amount of members and visitors. Being driven by its fans, Beatport has built a notable reputation among music enthusiasts. Both of our companies share a similar passion when it comes to music and our fans. This put our collaboration in place naturally.

We designed 3 styles, which we think best represent Acrylick and Beatport. The styles universal mind, around the world, and repeat are all influenced by the idea of music being capable of reaching the world. Its power does not linger in the area where it was first created/produced, but travels to places the musician would have never thought. This idea of having no barriers, and being limitless is a positive one, which has the ability to inspire many to create. No matter what field an individual is in, we should know that the hard work and time we put in will not be of waste, but rather, it will have the ability to go as far as our dreams will take them.

NAMM 2012 “Believe in Music”

Took a trip to the land of Disney (Anaheim, Ca) for this year’s NAMM show. It’s pretty much going to a guitar center but on steroids. You have your musical instruments from cowbells to guitars, recording equipment and software as well as dj gear, pro audio and random booths. Every company in the musical realm is there. Rane has 2 new mixers out which are the Rane Sixty-One and Rane Sixty-Two. Also Akai has created three new products for the beatsmiths, the MPC Renaissance, MPC Fly and MPC Studio. Odyssey also featured their FlightFX led cases. Check out photos below.

Recap: 2012 Acrylick x Novation Spring Scratch Session at the Acrylick Flagship Store

We partnered up with Novation, Odyssey, and Redbull to bring the annual Spring Scratch Session at our Flagship store. We knew this session had a little more buzz, being that the defending 2011 DMC World Champ Dj Vajra would be doing an exclusive set. Along with two guest judges and DJ pioneers Dj Spryte and DJ P-trix judging our Scratch Battle. At the end of the battle, it was DJ Rated R (from San Diego) taking home the victory after a 5 round intense battle. Once the battle had finished, it was time for the main exhibition and DJ Vajra demonstrated why he is the reigning DMC champ (Video coming shortly). We thank everyone that came out and MC Trek Life along with DJ Buddy TV for providing all the assistance and look forward to our next session.
